Managing event notifications

When you create or edit an event in Yandex Calendar, this always sends an automatic notification email to you and every invited participant.

You can also configure reminders to notify you and other event participants that the event has already started or is starting soon. In addition to emails, there are other notification types you can use. For example, you can configure sending push notifications to a phone with the Yandex Mail app installed.

Notification emails

A notification email lets the recipient know that they've been added to an event as a participant. An invited participant can accept or decline the invitation right from the email. The notification contains key event information to help the person decide whether they want to participate or not.

Compatibility with other calendar software

The notification email comes with an attached ICS file. This file format provides compatibility between different calendar programs and platforms. Such programs automatically recognize downloaded ICS files and prompt the user to add the contained event information to their calendar.

Event reminders

Reminders about upcoming events can be sent to your Yandex Mail address, to your phone (as SMS messages or push notifications), and to third-party calendar programs synchronized with your Yandex Calendar.

Note. To receive push notifications, make sure that you have the latest version of Yandex Mail installed and have notifications turned on in the phone settings.

You can add reminders for all events in a given calendar globally or set individual reminders for each specific event.

  • Notification emails inviting you to an event or informing you about an event being changed or canceled.

By default, all Yandex Calendar emails go to your Yandex Mail Inbox. If you don't want those emails in your Inbox, you can turn them off.
