Vake Park (also known as Victory Park in Soviet times) is a picturesque place on the slope of the Trialeti Range in the central district of Tbilisi. It not only pleases the eye, but also keeps a lot of interesting stories. The construction of the park began in 1946: 200 hectares of forest were allocated for its creation. The project embodied the idea of a harmonious combination of nature and architecture — and decades later it is still felt when walking along shady alleys. What to see and where to walk: From the north, the park is connected to Chavchavadze Avenue by wide flights of stairs — a great place for photo shoots and a little warm-up before a walk. The main axis of the park is the central staircase that leads to a series of pools with cascading fountains. Behind them on the mountain is the Grave of the Unknown Soldier memorial, dedicated to the memory of hundreds of thousands of Georgian soldiers who served and died in the ranks of the Red Army during World War II: a wide staircase leads to it, and a panoramic view of Tbilisi opens from the site. The park's special charm is added by: * dense greenery — century-old trees, manicured shrubs and lawns create a sense of privacy, even though you are in the center of more than a million megacities (1.3 million people); * flowerpots with stucco molding in the Soviet neoclassical style; * openwork lanterns for outdoor lighting — they create a cozy atmosphere in the evening; * Red crumbs sprinkled on the footpaths — this unusual design element gives the park a recognizable look. Entertainment and infrastructure: There is something for everyone in Vake Park.: * A children's playground is a safe and vibrant space for games; * Open—air cinema - in summer, films in Georgian and Russian are shown here, and thematic film festivals are often held.; * cafes and restaurants with views of the park and the city — you can try Georgian cuisine or just drink coffee among the greenery; * In the southwest, the park ends at the Mikhail Meskhi Stadium. If you like sports, check the match schedule or just take a walk around the arena. Interesting facts: 1. Botanical collection. Rare species of trees grow in the park, including those brought from other climatic zones in the 1950s. Some specimens have been preserved since the foundation of the park and are now considered monuments of wildlife. 2. Fountains with a history. The cascades of fountains on the main axis were designed taking into account the natural relief — the water moves without pumps, due to the height difference (according to physical laws: gravity (gravity); the difference in hydrostatic pressure between the upper and lower levels; the principle of communicating vessels). This engineering solution has been working smoothly so far. 3. Cinema in the park. The open‑air cinema appeared in the 1970s and became one of the first in the USSR. Georgian films premiered here, and posters of those years have been preserved in the archives of local cinemas. 4. Cable car to Turtle Lake. The overhead line connecting the park with the lake was opened in the 1960s. This is one of the oldest cable cars in Tbilisi, and its cabins offer views of the city blocks and mountains. 5. Hiking trail. The trail from the park to Turtle Lake is part of an ancient route that was used by locals even before the creation of the park. Today it is a popular hiking route (hiking in nature for pleasure): The journey takes about 30-40 minutes and passes through a wooded area. 6. Memorial of Glory. The Grave of the Unknown Soldier memorial, crowning the park, was opened in 1981 to mark the 40th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Its architectural ensemble includes: the Eternal Flame; sculpture of a rising woman with a banner and a branch; sculptures of fallen soldiers (created by Georgian sculptor Giorgi Ochiauri in 1981-1985). Veterans and residents of Tbilisi gather at the memorial every year on Victory Day (May 9). Foreign leaders lay wreaths here during their state visits. Vake Park is not just a green area, but a real open—air museum where nature, architecture and history are intertwined.

A cool park, an interesting turtle lake on top, a little bit of everything from above is "Soviet", but the lift for 1 GEL is a top, excellent park. The stairs to the park are being repaired, the monument itself is covered in graffiti and there is dirt and debris all around. I hope they'll put it in order.

We lived in Tbilisi for 5 years. Our children grew up in Vake Park. An ideal place for family walks, meetings with friends outdoors, and sports activities. Centuries-old trees that provide shade on hot days, a fountain that gives freshness and coolness. I was especially pleased with the lack of asphalt in the park. Only the smell of pine needles, birdsong and children's laughter. Then they built another cool library there. You could take books and read in the fresh air. A very warm and peaceful place in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. It was so cool to come back at the age of 11 and show the grown-up children the place where they spent their childhood. The park has become even more well maintained.

It's a beautiful park. It's beautiful, big, and there's plenty of room for walking. The park runs into a mountain/forest, where you can also go for a walk. There are sports grounds, turnstiles, tennis courts, and a basketball court. The park is very well maintained: any debris is quickly removed, and any breakdowns are repaired. You can climb up to the Victory Statue, which offers a stunning view. Or take the funicular up to Turtle Lake - from where the view is such that you can purposefully go to Georgia for this. I was lucky enough to live next to this park, and now I don't even know how you can live not next to it.

This is my favorite park!) When we lived in Tbilisi, we often walked with the baby there. It's a very cool paid playground... you let out a kraken and it runs there. Nice tracks, but you need to be careful... the red coating gets things dirty. Walking is a pleasure! There is a fountain... but it wasn't working and we haven't seen it working for a long time after the events when the child fell there. It might be working… There are restaurants and cafes nearby. And in principle, if you leave the park, you can still walk around the Vake area for a long time.

A wonderful green park, everything is well maintained, lots of benches, there are playgrounds and attractions for kids, though they are antediluvian, there are small sports grounds, exercise equipment, a tennis court, fountains with drinking water. There are stalls selling dessert.

A nice park with wide paths, playgrounds for children and sports. There are gazebos and picnic areas. There is a clean toilet for free. There are places that require care, but it is clear that restoration is underway and I hope it will look even better)

It's a wonderful, pleasant place. With a good view and at least some distance from the road. There are a large number of sports venues, mini food establishments, as well as benches (which are rare here). At the moment, the ascent to the unknown monument is being restored nearby, and I think the park will become even more attractive after the end. There are quite a lot of people here during the day, but at night it is very calm and peaceful. Highly recommend it.

A good recreation park, there are swings and climbing walls for children. Lots of trees and greenery. You can have a picnic and hang a hammock, as many people do! There is even a small pond in the park itself where you can just enjoy the silence.

A large park with a cascade of fountains (unfortunately, they didn't work in April) and stairs. There is a cable car station here, which can be climbed for just 1 GEL. Cozy cafes, Turtle Lake and hiking trails await you upstairs. From the height there is a picturesque view of this area of the city and the Meskhi stadium.

A clean and beautiful park, there is a place to sit in the shade of trees. The Kura River flows nearby, which makes it possible to enjoy a boat trip. A very original Peace bridge across the river, especially beautiful in the evening.

A wonderful park for daily walks, the decoration of the Vake area. There is a cable car in the park for the price of public transport. Upstairs there is a great view of the city (a little more modest than the view from Narikala, but still beautiful) and turtle lake, which is also very pleasant to walk around.

A very pleasant park, good playgrounds, a free toilet, and a place to eat. Nearby is the cheapest and, in my opinion, the coolest cable car that leads to turtle Lake. There's not much to do there out of season. But we had a great walk with the kids in the park. A couple of bus stops and you're at the subway. I recommend

Beautiful view of the mountain. Modern paths, enough children's carousels, good lighting in the evening. But everything spoils the view of the monument that is being repaired, when it is repaired, it will be possible to put 5 stars.

One of the main attractions of Vake Park is its lake, which attracts many visitors. There are walking paths around the lake, and cozy cafes and recreation areas are located on its shores. In summer, you can rent a boat or catamaran here and enjoy a water walk. The lake is also a popular fishing spot, which makes the park even more attractive for outdoor enthusiasts.

It's a very beautiful park, but it's a pity that the statue itself and the area around it are simply abandoned. It is clear that they started the repair or restoration, but then they abandoned it. I hope that the work will be completed in the future.

It was at the end of May 2023. The park is still under renovation. The fountains were not working. What has already been done looks quite interesting and beautiful. Bike paths. Lots of greenery and flowers. There is little catering, but most likely because of the unfinished part of the park.
