U Medvidku is an old Prague brewery, and a place with a really long history, operating since the fifteenth century. The name translates as "At the cubs", and the bearish theme can be traced right through everything - from the sign to the decor inside. I go inside and it's immediately obvious that the place has character. The halls are spacious, the ceilings are high, wooden beams, the atmosphere is so dense, old-fashioned, but without pathos. There are always a lot of people here, both tourists and locals, it's noisy, fun, live music sometimes plays - in general, there is a constant movement. Beer is brewed here right on the spot, and this, of course, is the main trump card of the institution. I took a dark one - the taste is powerful, with a hint of caramel, it feels like it was brewed with a lot of soul. There is even a special strong variety that is brewed according to an old recipe, the degree is healthy, so I do not advise you to lean on it from unaccustomed, otherwise the evening will end earlier than planned. I took knee and goulash from the food - the portions are generous, satisfying in the Czech way, you definitely won't leave hungry. The meat is soft, the serving is simple, without frills, but that's exactly what you'd expect from a place like this. On the downside, the service can be fussy when there are a lot of people, the waiters are on fire, and sometimes you have to wait longer than you would like. The prices are also not the most affordable for this format, but it is generally justified for the quality of the beer. Overall, it's a worthwhile place, especially if you want to taste real homemade Czech beer in an atmosphere with history, rather than in another chain eatery. It's better to go early to get a table and not to jostle in line.

A very atmospheric place in the very center: ancient halls with vaults and wood, the feeling of a “real” Prague tavern, where it's nice to go after a walk. The establishment has a long history — the place dates back to 1466, and you can feel it from the mood inside. The food is classic Czech cuisine: satisfying, clear and delicious, the portions are normal. A separate plus is our own microbrewery (interesting even just as part of the story and concept, not necessarily “about drinks"). Yes, the place is popular and can be lively, but that's exactly why it's loved.

Colorful with oak tables, a purely Prague restaurant. You don't have time to sit down, as the order is already accepted and after a minute, two mugs, sliding on the table, slide right under your right hand, and the waiter draws two short lines. Everything is done promptly, professionally and with love. Beer is just great. Well, when the lines become 6-8, you realize that you already want to take a walk, pay, bow and go ahead to the Charles Bridge, make a wish. Beauty!
