The Theatinerkirche, officially St. Caetan's Church, a Catholic church in Munich, is located on Odeonsplatz. The church was built in the Italian Baroque style, modeled on the main Roman church, as a court church, as well as the church of the Order of the Theatines. The name of the order comes from the Latin Theata, the Italian city of Chieti, in honor of Bishop Carafa, who was the first bishop in the church. The double towers and the dome are different from the rest of the buildings in Munich. At the very top, coats of arms are visible under the roof, surrounded by angel figures. In the niches of the facade there are sculptures of the Elector, his wife, son and Saint Caetan. The interior is decorated in white tones, beautiful columns, beautiful frescoes with biblical themes on the ceilings, and three altars are located here. There is a princely tomb in the church, where representatives of the Wittelsbach dynasty rest. Since 1954, the church has been transferred to the Benedictine Order. Once inside, you can forget about all your worries and admire the ancient architecture and art.
