A ceramic panel called "Kolkheti" (Colchis) is located at the entrance to the Central Market (Green Bazaar). They write that The bas-relief is a visual chronicle of Western Georgia, referring to the ancient kingdom of Colchis, whose capital was once Kutaisi. The area of the bas-relief is 217 square meters, which makes it the largest ceramic panel in the former Soviet Union. In June 2019, this unique work was officially awarded the status of a monument of cultural heritage of Georgia.

An ordinary market, but with amazing terrain! 🎨 The market itself is an ordinary bazaar. But if you look at the facade from the side of the Red Bridge, you will see a terracotta relief by the sculptor Bernard Nebieridze (1985). It's a work from the Soviet period, but it looks very lively. It's often not mentioned, but it's definitely worth a look.

At the entrance to the Central Market of Kutaisi there is an unusual ceramic bas-relief Colchis Panorama, created by artist Bernard Nebieridze in 1995. It depicts scenes from ancient Colchis, the legendary land of the Golden Fleece. It seems as if the story comes to life right amidst the noise of the city. The contrast is especially impressive: the market is bustling nearby with its smells, voices and bustle, and just a few steps away the memory of the distant past is frozen. If you are in Kutaisi, be sure to stop here for a minute. This is not just a wall decoration, but a small reminder of the rich history of Georgia.
