Shavi Coffee Roasters The Garage in Tbilisi is just the case when you go "just to work in a coffee shop" and you end up in a small art object with character. I love new and unusual places, especially if they have not only coffee, but also their own history, atmosphere, texture. And Shavi is one hundred percent unusual. It really feels like a former garage, which was not hidden under a glossy renovation, but carefully turned into a stylish, modern and very lively space. Outside there are garage doors, graffiti, street Tbilisi, a bit of chaos, a bit of audacity, a bit of street art. And you go inside, and everything is small, collected, bright, modern, with a sense of its own space and its own people. I really like this contrast: when the shell is rough, urban, almost technical, and inside there is a thoughtful design, good coffee, details and vibe. A separate delight is the bar counter on the glass floor. You can see the storage space for coffee bags under your feet, and this immediately adds depth to the place. You don't just drink a drink in a beautiful location, you seem to see the internal mechanics of the coffee shop: the grain, roasting, the process, the material from which everything begins. Vibe itself is very Tbilisi-based. Graffiti, which is filled with the whole city, seems to become part of the concept here. Tbilisi generally feels like a city of street art, dilapidated beauty, audacity, creativity and some very lively artistic energy. And Shavi The Garage is like a small embodiment of this state: garage, coffee, graffiti, glass, light, people with laptops, conversations, the smell of grain. The coffee shop is small, and that's what makes it special. In large spaces, the feeling of closeness is often lost, but here it is: you sit as if inside a small coffee laboratory, where everything is close — the barista, the counter, the grain, the people, the details, the street outside the door. There are a lot of details, and they are very cute. I was particularly amused by the inscription on the refrigerator: "I can't get out of bed, the blankets have accepted me as one of their own, and if I leave now, I may lose their trust." It's so beautiful and vital that it immediately adds human warmth to the place. Not just a "stylish interior", but a space where someone left humor, character and small reasons to smile. I went there to work, and the soul of the remote worker, of course, was pleased with the good Internet. For me, this is a separate criterion: is it possible not just to go for coffee, but to actually sit down, open a laptop, catch a working rhythm and at the same time not lose the sense of place. Here you can. Coffee is Shavi's strong point. It feels like this is not a coffee shop "in passing traffic", but a place where coffee is really the main character. Specialty culture here does not look like a decorative signboard: grain, roasting, taste, atmosphere — everything is gathered around it. For me, Shavi The Garage is not about a classic cozy coffee shop with sofas and pastel walls. It's about a different kind of comfort: urban, daring, creative, a little garage, a little art. About Tbilisi, which knows how to be rough on the outside and very lively on the inside. A place where you should definitely go if you want not just to drink coffee, but to feel the city through its modern coffee culture, graffiti, small spaces, people with laptops and the very atmosphere where a garage suddenly turns into a dream.
