A beautiful ancient monastery on the shore of Sevan. There are many cafes and hotels nearby. And don't tell me that Sevan is not the sea.

It's beautiful, but the path is narrow, and there are a lot of tourists (plus tents around straight from the 90s

The views of the lake are simply amazing! Just for that, it's already worth climbing up to the monastery 😍

A beautiful place that smells of history and mysticism. The monastery has an interesting location on the peninsula and the monastery offers an incredible view of Lake Sevan.

An ancient temple on a high peninsula. The scenery is impressive- a huge expanse of water in the middle of the mountains, from which the snow has not left. Definitely worth a visit. It was already possible to take a boat trip, but it was getting a little cold. At the foot there are a lot of restaurants and stalls with souvenirs and pomegranate juice. Our guide, after looking at the prices on the menu, took us 7-8 minutes further on the way to Dilijan. There are also restaurants overlooking the lake and the prices are significantly cheaper. The whitefish baked on coals was great.

Stunning view of Sevan. An ancient monastery. It is better to have a guide who tells you about this place.

The view is gorgeous, BLUNDERING! It's just an incredible place in general, We really love Sevan and specifically the view of it from Sevanavank. There are very beautiful paintings on the stairs. And the monastery is one of the most authentic!

Magnificent view from a height of 80 meters above the surface of the lake. A little further, you can follow the path 30 meters higher.

It's a very picturesque place, of course it's difficult to climb, narrow stairs, but it's worth it.

Place of power) Previously, the monastery was on the island, now that the level in Sevan has become lower, it is already a peninsula. There are steps leading to the monastery. There are a lot of them and that's the beauty of it too. There are rest areas during the ascent. The monastery itself has survived its former glory and greatness, now there are only a couple of churches and the foundations of buildings, which now only remind of themselves with these foundations. But the view around is simply amazing. The color of the lake is azure, around the mountains, clouds and some kind of endless expanse. It's very cool.

The most beautiful views! A holy place! But do not buy a moonstone near the monastery, either by itself or products made from it - a fake at an inflated price.

Beautiful views and no more advantages. Climbing the mountain implies a "fun" adventure along a narrow and crooked staircase. And instead of expanding it somehow, the Armenians preferred to set up a bunch of stalls along the way, where they would persistently sell you cheap souvenirs and pomegranate juice. On the mountain itself sits a funny guy named Hamlet, who breeds a pigeon of desires for a service (like, he launched the bird and everything will come true). At the very peak, there is some kind of unfinished building with protruding fittings, or some kind of ruins. And as always, there's trash everywhere and not a single trash can. I asked a local where I could throw a plastic cup, so he says that it can be directly on the ground..

The first monks in this monastery appeared on the island at the end of the 8th century (yes, until 1940 this place was an island), they built cells and a chapel. In 874, the monastery was founded by Princess Mariam, the daughter of Ashot I Bagratuni and the wife of Prince Gegharkunik Vasak Gabur. The tsar of Armenia, Ashot II the Iron, lived in the monastery for some time. Near the walls of the monastery, he gave battle to the Arab soldiers who approached the shore of Sevan. The monks of Sevanavank also participated in the Battle of Sevan, who declared it the will of Providence on the occasion of the victory. In the XVI–XVII centuries, the monastery walls were destroyed, and in 1930 the last monk left the island. In the mid-1950s, the monastery buildings were reconstructed: historically valuable elements went to museums, and copies took their place. In 1990, the Vazgen I Theological Seminary was opened here, one of the two operating in Armenia (the other in Etchmiadzin).  Sevanavank is included in the UNESCO list of Cultural heritage sites. I really liked the lake itself and the ancient monastery. There was a strong energy, and the views were simply fabulous!

A place of power. To say that it is beautiful is not enough to convey even 1% of what you have seen. It's worth climbing this ladder 💙

Before the lake was crushed, the peninsula was an island, it was separated from the mainland by a 3-kilometer strait, so fishermen and fugitive criminals mainly settled on it. At the time when the monks chose the island, a stone wall was built encircling it with a watchtower and a small gate. Inside the wall there were four churches, cells for monks and numerous outbuildings.

This is an iconic place, which is depicted on millions of postcards and paintings, an ancient church and a view of Lake Baikal.Sevan is a must-visit for everyone who comes to Armenia. To take a photo on her background. It takes about an hour to drive from Yerevan. It should be added that Sevan is located at an altitude of 1 km from sea level, and it is always much colder and warmer in Sevanavank than in the capital of Armenia, especially in winter.

Another interesting church that towers over the north. Very old. You need to be ready to walk high up the stairs. And, be sure to keep in mind the presence of strong winds. If it is strong, then the higher it is, the stronger and colder it blows.

The monastery is located on the shore, surrounded by the expanses of the lake, which, by the way, is very large. In April, it is still cool and there is practically no greenery. The architecture, as in the whole country, is strict and at the same time monolithic and unshakable, it will stand for the same amount of time. It is better to choose the time for swimming closer to August. Purely for the sake of Sevanak, I do not recommend going, but I recommend the intermediate stage to Dilijan :)

At some point, some people in some temples in the city decided that you can't go inside in shorts. . Not only have they decided this, but they are also rude and insulting from the entrance... and these are not just people, but "watching" women behind the temple. It's a disgrace! We visited 6 churches in Armenia, but there were similar problems here... They also sell candles downstairs (supposedly they won't be allowed into the temple without them)

The cape itself is amazing, the view of the lake is 360 degrees, there is a place to meditate. The temple itself is modest, austere, and dark. The climb is not the most convenient, if you get into the season at all, probably do not disperse on the narrow steps.

It's a cool place. Great views! Be sure to bring warm clothes with you. In Yerevan it can be plus 20-25, at an altitude of 2,000 m it can easily be plus five cold wind and fog.
