The Motherland is a sculpture, the compositional center of the monument-ensemble "To the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad" on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd. It is one of the tallest statues in the world, with a height of 85 meters. The sculpture depicts a woman with a raised sword, representing her Homeland, who calls her sons to fight the enemy. An epic structure.

The majestic Motherland Monument is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the city of Kiev. The height of the monument with a pedestal is 102 meters - the tallest monumental sculpture in Europe and the fifth in the world.

I visited this monument in 2007, a year later after the Volgograd Motherland. The metal figure made of sparkling slabs (there was also an inscription on the fence - beware of falling slabs) and the complete absence of any emotions make him look more like a robot than a woman. And compared to the monument in Volgograd, it loses not only in size, which is not as important as in sensations - you really feel the pain, despair and suffering embodied in the Great Monument. And you see, this is really our homeland. Despite the Soviet origin of both monuments, there are no such impressions in Kiev. but the viewport here is very good - the city is in full view.
