It's a great place! We stopped in Akhaltsikhe for the Rabat fortress on a tip from friends, they also recommended this restaurant just a stone's throw away. And it was a one hundred percent hit! While we were waiting for our barbecue and snacks, we talked to the hosts — incredibly warm-hearted people, they immediately surrounded us with care. We were treated to a signature plum tea, and the barbecue... honestly, I haven't tasted it in a hundred years! As a result, we stayed up until dark, and we didn't want to leave at all. Following the recommendation in Yandex Maps, we stopped by after visiting the cave city in Vardzia and did not regret it. A colorful place with delicious homemade cuisine. The owner Zurab speaks Russian, English, and French. There's even a shower in the bathroom. The whitewashed walls of the corridor are covered with marker with admiring and appreciative reviews in various languages over the past 3 years. The menu with photos of dishes and captions is in Russian. The portion sizes are amazing. If you take a Caesar salad, then this is a portion for the company. Or if you're very hungry, you don't have to take anything anymore. Such khachapuri in Adjarian style has not been eaten anywhere. The crust is crispy and thin, there is a lot of filling and sooo delicious. Khinkali is so big that 2-3 pieces is good to eat even for a man. Kindzmarauli homemade wine is fragrant and very tasty. Saperavi is also good, plum vodka is 60 degrees, be careful! The prices are adequate, we paid less than in a restaurant in Tbilisi, and we got many times more food and pleasure. Tips are automatically included in the 10% bill.

I highly recommend it! We stayed in Akhaltsikhe for the night and had dinner in this cozy restaurant. The atmosphere and decoration are great, the food is great, the drinks are great, the host is great. It's a very soulful place. I recommend Shkmeruli separately, one of the best we've tried. Positive: - Location close to the entrance to Rabat Fortress. - They pour a glass of Chacha for the guests. - The barbecue is delicious from chicken and pork. Minuses: - There are a lot of street dogs on the premises. Sometimes they fight with each other and it scares them. - The khachapuri was not delicious - the filling looked like old cottage cheese. - Eggplant with bitterness and a hard crust. - The kebab was dry and cooked in a pan, not on coals. - There are no prices for wine and beer on the menu. I had a chance to have lunch with Zurab at the end of July 2026. It's a great place. An absolutely homely atmosphere. The food is like "mom cooked." We checked the reviews after visiting Rabat Fortress. There are always a lot of people, but there were places. The people are very nice. Everything was quickly prepared, the portions are large. Terrible food, terrible cuisine. Shish kebab and kebab are not cooked on the grill. Kebab is a tough, tasteless cutlet, chicken kebab is fried and boiled chicken. Pork shish kebab is also not from the grill, it is simply impossible to chew it. I don't understand where this place gets so many positive reviews about the most delicious food in Georgia. We drove 3.5 hours from Tbilisi to explore the fortress: we were dead, tired and hungry, we began to break into all the cafes and restaurants in a row, but everything we came across does not work in winter. We saw a single window with a cozy light burning inside, came up and immediately turned around, because a huge dog was sleeping right on the threshold in front of the door, and we saw all kinds of dogs in Georgia and peed. But when we had already moved away, the owner himself came out of the house and called us inside. I can't believe we almost missed our best night in Georgia so easily! We returned, hugged the dog (it turned out to be the kindest), were glad that Zurab speaks Russian (we came to Georgia without any knowledge of English, don't be like us), and then an amazing experience happened to us! We went into a small cozy room completely hung with paintings by the hostess of the establishment, and until the last moment, until we left, we had the feeling that we were visiting friends whom we know well, but have not seen for a long time, and all the visitors did their best to share this time with each other. other warmth, travel experiences, tips, and funny situations. The owner sat with us, said a lot of interesting, useful and just humanly good things. The hostess is a great woman, I just admire her kindness and generosity. On food: even we non-drinking vegetarians had something to eat, so much so that we ate our fill and took half of it with us. The prices are also as sincere as possible — for example, the royal khachapuri was charged for 15 lari (450 rubles), for comparison, in the same Tbilisi Mall in the food court they bought cheese pizza for 23 lari the day before. We were at the restaurant at the Kessane Hotel. The staff is polite, friendly and tries very hard — thanks for that. But unfortunately, the kitchen left a bad impression. We ordered khinkali, ojakhuri and Caesar salad. The khinkali tasted good, but it was clearly defrosted and not freshly prepared. In Ojahuri, the meat had an unpleasant odor and was most likely not of the best quality. Caesar turned out to be far from classic — the ingredients didn't seem very fresh. It's a pity, because the service is good, but the kitchen requires serious improvement. I hope the administration will pay attention to the quality of the food and cooking.

A very pleasant place right near the fortress, stayed with my husband for one night. The overnight stay is comfortable, the room is very clean, the bed linen is fresh, the plumbing is in order.
