The Old Town Hall is one of those places in Prague that you just can't get past, even if you're in a hurry. The building itself has been standing since the thirteenth century, and it is immediately obvious that it was built for centuries, not for one season. The main star here, of course, is the famous Prague Chimes. Windows open on them every hour, and figures of the apostles come out - the mechanism has been working since the fifteenth century, imagine! I was standing at the bottom with a crowd of tourists, waiting for this moment - and when the figures went, and the skeleton above rang the bell, goosebumps really ran over my skin. It's a simple mechanic, and the effect is no worse than a good trick. I also went up to the observation tower - the view from there of the entire Old Town Square and the tiled roofs of the city is breathtaking. The climb, to be honest, is not a bad shake for the legs, but there is also an elevator for those who save their strength for the evening. Inside the town hall itself, the ancient halls and the Gothic chapel have been preserved - the atmosphere is solemn, the weight of history is felt in every stone. The staff is polite, the tours are conducted in detail, without haste. One of the disadvantages is that there is always a crowd in the square in front of the clock, especially by the beginning of the hour, you have to lean your elbows to see something. But in general, the place is a must-visit - since you are in Prague, you simply cannot pass by such beauty.

A very beautiful town hall with an equally beautiful view from the roof. The Old Town Hall is the dominant square, the main architectural complex of Old Prague. There is an observation deck on its tower. The Old Town Hall was founded by decree of Jan of Luxembourg in 1338. For the city government, they bought a stone corner mansion built at the end of the XIII century, owned by the merchant Wolf Kamena (Wölflinów dówm). The first meeting room was opened there (today it is a Small Hall). The entrance portal of the house dates back to the XV century, and its massive wooden door with lions was made in 1652. In 1360, a second house was built on the west side, the house of the merchant Jan Krzyzh (D?M kramáře Kříže). Wedding ceremonies have been held in its Gothic hall with a coffered ceiling since 1871. The house is decorated with a triple Renaissance window, above which the motto "Prague is the head of the kingdom" is inscribed; there are 19 heraldic symbols on the facade. The rectangular tower with a height of 69.5 m was erected in 1364 under the leadership of Peter Parlerzh.
