The New Athos cave is located under the slope of the Iversky Mountain. It is one of the largest caves in Abkhazia. It is located on the territory of the city of New Athos. Scientists studied the cave from 1963 to 1975. In 1975, the cave was opened to the public. From 1975 to 1978, a tunnel and a railway were built inside the cave. The length of the railway track is about 1.3 kilometers. The air temperature is +14 degrees. Humidity is 100%. There are nine halls in the cave, of which six are open to the public. The halls are interconnected by passageways, bridges and stairs. The halls of the cave have artistic lighting and voice acting. Guides work in the cave.
