The Georgy Akhvlediani Museum of Local Lore. Founded in 1982, it is named after the Georgian scientist Giorgi Akhvlediani, academician, linguist and historian. Parking is right next to the museum. The museum's collection covers various aspects of the history and culture of Tskaltubo and its surroundings. The archaeological collection — exhibits cover the epochs from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages: ancient coins, iron tools, clay vessels. The ethnographic exposition immerses into the everyday life of Georgians of the XIX–XX centuries: national costumes with hand embroidery, wooden musical instruments (chonguri, panduri and salamuri), ancient carpets, painted clay vessels and ornaments, rare manuscripts and books of the XVII–XIX centuries. The weapons collection includes Georgian daggers with silver and gold engravings, powder flasks and bandoliers used in the 19th century. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. The cost of a visit for non-residents is GEL 5.
