You just need to see this temple, there is a lot of different information on the tour about the history of construction and restorations, but all this is secondary. The main thing is the energy of the cathedral itself and the beauty of the place. I definitely recommend you to visit!

A strikingly beautiful Orthodox church of the XI century with carved patterns of walls and columns, with a rich history and actively ongoing restoration. I want to look at it for a long time, to absorb the spiritual atmosphere of the place. There are a lot of tourists out of season. A must-visit upon arrival in Kutaisi.

A beautiful, large monumental temple, next to a large clearing and an observation deck with stunning views of Kutaisi. We came to a time when several weddings were held there, and we saw a lot of elegant Georgian men and women 😄

It's a very beautiful place. It is better to come at sunset - magnificent views of Kutaisi open up. The temple inside is also very beautiful, new elements have been organically introduced in the restoration of the Temple. A must-visit!))

Bagrat's Temple is one of the main places of Kutaisi, built at the beginning of the XI century under Tsar Bagrat III. When you stand at these walls, you feel the weight of time. The stones have survived wars, destruction, restoration, and now they just keep silence and a view of the city. The atmosphere is special - without pathos, but with inner strength. It's easy to stop here, catch your breath, and feel how the past and present converge at one point. I want to stay longer, just watch and listen to how the city lives below.

An atmospheric place, a majestic, beautiful huge temple stands on a hill, with a beautiful view of the entire city of Kutaisi from the territory around it. The place is mandatory when visiting the city.

Kutaisi is a small city, not so many attractions. This is one of them. There is a good observation deck in front of the temple with a view of the city. There's a nice souvenir shop along the way. The history of the temple and its reconstruction can be viewed on the Internet.

A very majestic ancient temple with a tragic history. Despite the inauthentic restoration under Saakashvili, it looks very impressive. The panorama of the city opens from the platform near the temple.

The temple is beautiful from the outside. We were not inside, we were passing through Kutaisi late in the evening, we stopped for the sake of the temple. The entrance to the temple is free even at night, the gate is not closed. The temple is beautifully illuminated.

It's very beautiful, if you're around, be sure to come by. There is a fairly large parking lot nearby. We spent the night right in front of the temple, the view from the window was of course amazing)

A restored temple from the ruins in the renovation style. One of the few cases when the status of a UNESCO site was revoked. But a visit is required, including a view of Kutaisi

Bagrat Temple is one of the largest temples in Georgia and the only one built on the mountain. It is named after the first ruler of the United Georgia formed in the 11th century, Kutaisi became the capital of this kingdom. The kings of united Georgia, for example, David IV the Builder, were crowned here. In the 17th and 18th centuries, during the military operations, the temple was gradually destroyed, and remained in the form of picturesque ruins for more than two hundred years. When we were in Kutaisi in 2010, it was just ruins, although picturesque. In 2012, the temple was restored, so now we have examined it. The temple is visible from anywhere in the city. During the city tour, we walked directly from the city center, From the Central Market along the Chain Bridge over the Rioni River, and then went up the stairs (stairs alternate with steps and horizontal rest areas), which does not reach the temple itself, but Bagrati Street, encircling the hill with the temple. The temple can be reached by car along Kazbegi Street. We went back down Bagrati Street to the embankment. The temple is really huge, it is made up of huge blocks. The temple is surrounded by a fortress wall. It offers a beautiful panorama of Kutaisi Rioni and the mountains. The interior is traditional for any Orthodox church — icons, an altar. Admission is free. The temple is active. When we arrived, the church was preparing for the wedding ceremony. The wedding procession of many cars has already arrived at the temple grounds.

Kutaisi is a city with a rich history, and one of its most striking symbols is the Bagrat Temple. Towering over the city, it seems to tell stories about the former greatness of the Georgian kingdom. Built in the 11th century, the temple has long been the heart of Kutaisi and a symbol of united Georgia. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by the Turks in the 17th century, and for a long time it stood in ruins, recalling the tragic events. But in recent years, Bagrat's Temple has been restored, and now it pleases the eye again with its beauty and monumentality. The debate about restoration methods continues unabated, but one thing remains unchanged: Bagrat Temple is a place that is definitely worth a visit to feel the spirit of Georgia and touch its history.

An atmospheric place. The original renovation was done. Instead of the destroyed corners, modern structures were installed, without imitating the antiquity. There are Christian relics. Great view. Nearby are the ruins of the fortress wall.

There is a good view of the city, but you will not see anything except the roofs of the houses. There is a good view of the river from the old walls, but they are not allowed there and scold. You can enter the temple in any clothes, there are shawls and skirts at the entrance to look decent.

There is an observation deck near the temple with a view of the city. You can walk from the center via stairs and bridges in 20 minutes. A small but colorful route. The temple is neat inside. There are photos from the outside of the temple showing the stages of its restoration from an almost destroyed state.

A majestic temple, and a view of the city opens. Calmly) Its history goes back to 1003 — it was then that it was consecrated as a symbol of the growing triumphant struggle for the unification of the Georgian lands. It was listed in UNESCO until someone Saakashvili decided to restore and install a glass elevator (and why not?). As a result, such an ancient temple was excluded from the world Heritage due to the stupidity of one person. There are national men's ensembles, if you ask, they will sing for you.

There are several paths leading to the temple, but we decided to take a cable car up and then walk for about 10 minutes. This made it possible to avoid climbing the stairs and enjoy the mesmerizing views of the city. The temple is functioning, you can put candles and order prayer services, which adds a special atmosphere to the place. We recommend that you definitely visit this place, the views of Kutaisi from here are simply gorgeous.

A grandiose temple on a hill, visible from everywhere in Kutaisi! Although disfigured by modern metal additions, it impresses with its volume and history, and even looking at the great remains of walls and columns both from the outside and from the inside. It's easy to imagine his past greatness! It retains the religious aura of the past! I would like to see its revival and return to full functioning! God grant you!

A huge ancient (1005) cathedral on the highest point of the city. It was in ruins for a long time, restored not so long ago. Now it is an active temple. Around there are the remains of an ancient fortress - the city began from this place.
