There is a photo zone on the central staircase with a reminder to parents that the school year is about to start and it's time to buy school supplies - it looks very cute. Not the best store in Minsk in terms of assortment, and actually discounts. But you can still find something interesting. I was surprised that recently Chinese goods have been sold along with Belarusian goods. Chinese shoes were especially surprised, as for me, it causes some confusion - this is with such famous local manufacturers. And yes, of course, discounts are not much pampered, and even the loyalty card with its 5% (added to the main discount, if any) does not apply to all products.

I had a preconceived opinion about such a place (remembering GUM in Moscow), but I bought myself some creams from Modum on the first floor and a couple of towels on the third. It turned out to be very affordable. The product quality is excellent. I am very happy! Everything has already been written about the interior and the historical building. Walking along Independence Avenue, we passed GUM several times. The GUM building attracts attention not only as one of the iconic shopping facilities in Minsk, but also as an architectural monument of the mid-20th century. The department store was built after the war, as the first object of the renovated city center, which fit into the large-scale reconstruction of the main highway of Minsk, which was severely damaged during the war. And on November 5, 1951, the new GUM opened its doors to the first visitors. The event became a city holiday — mounted police were on duty at the entrance, and long queues lined up at the shop windows. The department store was perceived as a "palace of commerce" — a place not only for shopping, but also for walks and meetings. It is a four-storey building with a reinforced concrete frame. The front facade, facing Independence Avenue, is accentuated by three arched openings of the main entrance. To this day, the elements of stucco decoration, stained glass windows and grand staircases have been preserved, maintaining the atmosphere of the "shopping palace". GUM is preparing for its 75th anniversary, which is reflected in the festive decoration of the shop windows. Today, GUM remains a major shopping mall with a wide range of products. My wife was delighted with the Belarusian-made care cosmetics, she bought something for herself, something as a gift to our loved ones.

Huge storefronts are thematically decorated on the facade. In one of them there is a mirror and an AI roller, which, as it were, mirrors a street not real, but 50-60 years old. It's like there's an opportunity to look at the past. I'm already an adult and was born in the USSR, so I remember how it used to be, so it's familiar and familiar to me. Unfortunately, the sellers failed with the service. Either they have a rule everywhere not to approach the buyer until he turns to them, or the young people are so lazy, but I, as a buyer, did not have enough of their attention.

The supermarket is being renovated very nicely. The toilets on the ground floor are super clean and modern. There are many rare products, ranging from cosmetics to household items. One of the disadvantages is the "Soviet" attitude of sellers: they loudly discuss their business, you often hear loud phrases from the category of "Vitalieuna, are you going anywhere?", etc. It feels like you're in a village store. And nothing has changed for many years. This, of course, adds color to the Soviet building, but it does not decorate it at all. I would really like to make a reference to the good Soviet style, as it was done at GUM in Moscow. Nevertheless, our Belarusian GUM is an interesting historical place, and not just a store in the area.

I need to go through the entire department, inspect every hanger. Do you seriously think that I won't get bored? The goal is to sell the product, not to impress the customer with color spots. I crossed GUM off the list of places where it is convenient to dress.
