A monument with a truly powerful context. Everyone will see something different in it, but the fact that it is located at the foot of the fortress speaks volumes. All the power, pain and bravery of the Georgian people are shown in such an understandable but profound installation. A must-visit.

I visited the installation "Memorial to Georgian Heroic Soldiers" at the foot of the fortress in Gori (Georgia) - I felt how important it is to stop and just be close to history. This composition consists of eight bronze figures of warriors sitting in a circle on massive stone blocks. You see, they're not whole: someone's missing an arm, someone's missing a face. Each figure seems to bear the scar of war. The sculptor Giorgi Ochiauri worked on them in the period 1981-85. Then, in 2009, they were moved from the park in the capital and installed here, near the fortress walls. The place itself adds to the power: the fortress looks at the city, the rock is underfoot, the winds are all around, which seem to whisper about the struggle, about protection, about what each of those stones and figures was alive for. When you come here, you notice that no one is fussing. People stop, as if they also want to be a part of something bigger for a moment. I sat down on a nearby rock, looked at the figures— right in front of me—and realized: they are not just a symbol. They're a question. Why is it worth protecting? For what? What remains when the noise of war subsides? When she left, the sunset fell softly, the shadows stretched, the bronze became warm before her eyes. And I left with the feeling that memory works not only in books and words. She's here, in space, in the air, in those sculptures.

At the foot of the fortress in Gori there is the eternal house of majestic bronze warriors — the Memorial of Georgian Heroic Warriors. Eight gigantic figures closed in a silent circle, preserving the memory of valor and sacrifice. Once these guards were stationed in Vake Park, but now they have found a new home. Next to them is a stone for memorial candles, where everyone can place a piece of their memory. Created in the 1980s by author George Ochiauri, the memorial remains a poignant reminder of Georgia's heroic past.
