It's nice to come across a nice monument when you're not looking for it -) Here are the main characters of the film. Mimino, "Professor" Khachikyan, General Volokhov, and even Danelia himself are on the poster stand. It's interesting to see the reaction of tourists who also suddenly see this monument and all break into a smile. Good, kind, nostalgic movies; kind, naive, real characters.

The monument is located in a small park on Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue, in the immediate vicinity of the Avlabari metro station. The sculptural composition includes four bronze figures.: * Valiko Mizandari (pilot, played by Vakhtang Kikabidze); * Rubika Khachikyan (truck driver, Frunzik Mkrtchyan); * Ivana Volokhova (front—line soldier, role - Evgeny Leonov); * George Danelia, the director of the film. The figure of Danelia is made in the form of a peculiar bronze mushroom covered with tiles. All the figures are made in natural human height and are very similar to the actors, so it seems that the animated characters of the film are at a crossroads, deciding where to go. Valiko is wearing the famous airfield cap, which has become an integral part of the wardrobe of Georgian men. The author of the monument is sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, who donated the work to Tbilisi.

There was humor here too: the hero Frunzik has winter studded tires Gislaved Nord Frost 3 (!!!) tubeless, radial, 185/70 R 14, which, of course, could not exist in the USSR. In the original, he had a diagonal rubber 6.45*13 on a Muscovite heel. Buba, of course, discredited himself in the eyes of Russians at the end of his life, but it is very pleasant to remember one of the favorite films of childhood and youth. "I'll tell you one smart thing, but don't be offended..."

There is a monument to Mimino in Tbilisi, which is small and almost invisible, but somehow it feels warm. There are three characters standing there, as if they had just come out of a movie and were about to start arguing about life. People come up, smile, take pictures. No pretentiousness, just a good memory of the time when cinema was sincere. I'm not a fan of monuments, but this one is catchy. Maybe it's because Mimino is about friendship and humanity, and in Tbilisi you feel it especially strongly. Everything is real there, just like in the movie.

A monument by Tsereteli was planned to be installed in Moscow on Chistye Prudy, next to the house where George Danelia's apartment is located. The monument was planned to be erected on the 30th anniversary of the release of the film "Mimino" on the screens. But that didn't happen. As a result, the heroes of "Mimino", embodied in bronze, came to Tbilisi. The monument was erected in the old Avlabari district.
