The restaurant's prime location and delectable dishes are undeniably its saving graces. Despite booking a table a full week in advance and arriving right on the dot, I found myself cooling my heels for a torturous half - hour. It begs the question: if a reservation time is merely a suggestion, what's the purpose of even offering the booking service? One would assume that making a reservation guarantees a seamless dining experience, but clearly, this establishment has a different understanding of the concept. For those who cherish their time and expect punctuality to be reciprocated, proceed with extreme caution. After all, your "reserved" time here might as well be a game of chance.

Very unpleasant visit. The red Lady at the reception desk is a mass. Unfriendly and confused our arrival time, had to wait 15‘. The meat very poor and bed. The famous blinis were cold and no tasty, sure were made since some days ago. The main course the „oleniy“ beefsteak was totally something else, not so tasty. Other dishes from our guests complained also all. The dessert kiew tort was not able to eat it, even the tea was undrincable. The table was very narrow placed to the other one, a mass. The only good was the high price for this bad dinner. In former times this place was a highlight for us, today not to be recommended. During our 2 hours stays about 4x they celebrated very loudly birthday at neighbor tables, also not a silent place as before. In this situation nothing positive can be commented.

Tasty Russian cuisine for low prices Very famous place with tasty food. Here you can find many classic Russian dishes like pelmeni, pickles and marinades, caviar, main dishes made of meat or fish. Of course, there are different porridges, home-made pies and pancakes as well. There are a very big variety of vodkas and homemade liquors. Interesting teas (for example one with pines) are presented in the menu. Due to its popularity this restaurant is too busy: no private experience or some care from the staff, everyone is in a rush.

Trying to contact the restaurant for more than 45 min , only once they answered , I did my booking through Afisha a day before and got a message that it was cancelled . When they answered the phone , they were quite rude , told me they were fully booked and hanged the phone . Really very bad attitude , and service definitely nonexistent . Very sad this situation for such an iconic restaurant . Hope you can improve it

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in Moscow. We waited for our main courses for two hours, only to find out—from the waitress!—that one of the dishes wasn’t even available. No one bothered to tell us earlier. Absolutely unacceptable level of service and communication.

making a reservation at Dr. Zhivago, especially given its 5-star reputation. Unfortunately, the food and dessert were below average and didn’t match the premium pricing. The atmosphere and service were nice, but overall, I left feeling disappointed and that it wasn’t worth the cost.

Our experience was disappointing. Mess from the start: The waitress didn’t take us into the dining room for a while, so we waited quite a bit and were finally seated at the first place she saw (uncomfortably in the busiest area, while there were a lot of free, comfy tables further inside without reservation). It's very hard to get any consultation in English. While I am speaking Russian, my partner doesn’t and couldn’t get any information about ingredients to make sure his allergies are considered. Service, which is a must in any restaurant (especially those that present themselves as upscale ones, like this one). I appreciate the effort from the staff who know a bit of English, but it was simply insufficient. We left with only having drinks (those were good, though), so we cannot judge the food quality.

Food is good but awful service. They say you have 2 hours meal but we waited for a table 30 minutes although we have a booking. Food (entries) arrived 30 minutes later and 1.30 after your arrival, they tell you you have to go and in a very rude way. Nice interior design and food but the treatmemt makes no worthy the cost (rather high considering the service)

I came there thy said its fully booked the next day I try to call them to book a table when I call the receptionist answer and when I said hi good evening she just hung up the phone 3 times for no reason you can say ( don’t speak English) or let some one else speak to me not just hang up the phone do you expect me to learn and speak Russian when I call back.

The restaurant food is very good the place and the decorations is amazing..... The staff are too rude and they are not respectful..especially with the tourists. We have called the manager and he said " hope to see you agin" Out of professionalty. Enjoy the food, but the staff will surely flip your mood.

I went there four times during our stay at the Hotel National. Unfortunately, the service from the front desk staff was very disappointing to say the least. Lots of unnecessary attitude. I've visited over 20 restaurants in Moscow and this one is by far the worst. We specifically made a reservation requesting a table by the window. When we arrived, we were told that the window table was held for four people and were instead seated in the middle row next to the walkway. Shortly afterward, however, they seated a couple at that exact same table by the window. That was frustrating and made the explanation we were given feel dishonest. The service during our first three visits was decent, but on our final visit the waiter was rude and unpleasant to deal with. It’s unfortunate because the food is actually quite good and the location is excellent. I visit Moscow every year and have a list of restaurants I regularly return to, but this place definitely will not be added to it. Do your self a favor and just walk to Nikitskaya street nearby to get much better food with less BS. Very disappointing experience overall.

It wasn’t clear for us as a tourist that reservation is required however we were OK to wait as it’s the place rules, but unfortunately, the receptionist lady in red the dress wasn’t welcoming enough and needs to use more polite language when speaking to a customer .Thank you for this first and last experience.

Reception service is horrible, since I don’t have reservation they told me to be wait-listed for 30min although restaurant has plenty seatings for breakfast. 5 groups entered without having to wait. If you’re simply a tourist/foreigner you’ll wait or be told its fully booked.

I like this place. Very good vodka and Russian cuisine. Let try deer dumplings. Pancakes with Щучья caviar. Борщ is my favorite soup forever. And you try Солянка. Enjoy your meal

My visit to Dr. Zhivago was a huge letdown. This place is overhyped and lacks basic customer care. When my phone battery died, I asked if they could charge it, but instead of helping, they just pointed me to their power bank rental system. Apparently, you need to book it in advance through an app—which, of course, was impossible since my phone was completely dead. How is that even supposed to work??!

Staff were not friendly, too busy to get good customer service. The stroganoff was very disappointing, served on a bed of mashed potato! The dessert was also too sweet and hard.

The café in Moscow boasts a stunning décor and a charming atmosphere, making it a delightful spot to relax or enjoy a meal. The interior design is elegant, creating a welcoming and cozy ambiance. However, the experience is marred by poor customer service, with staff often displaying unfriendly or inattentive behaviour never visiting again were in Moscow so many restaurant and cafe i have visited are friendly and very nice to us.

Very bad, with extremely bad attitude and racial discrimination. We made a reservation in advance and they confirmed it, but when we arrived, they said we didn't have a reservation and asked us to wait. We queued in a very long line and waited for about 2 hours, but they still didn't give us food opportunity, but other locals went in without queuing. The waiter had a very bad attitude and kept rolling his eyes at us. Racist restaurant! ! ! ! ! ！awful experience. Won’t go again!!!!! Были в «Доктор Живаго» и остались в полном восторге. Стильный светлый интерьер с работами советских художников, панорамные окна и вид на Кремль создают ощущение праздника уже с порога. Кухня — современная русская: борщ, оливье, горячие блюда и десерты поданы красиво и очень вкусные, порции сытные и полностью оправдывают цену. Отдельное спасибо официантам за внимательное и ненавязчивое обслуживание — все рекомендации по меню были точными, блюда приносили вовремя, по любым просьбам реагировали быстро и с улыбкой. Отличное место, чтобы показать гостям Москву и самому приятно провести вечер — обязательно вернусь и смело рекомендую к посещению, твёрдая пятёрка.

Забронировать столик здесь было настоящим квестом. Но оно того стоило! Русская кухня исполнена великолепно: и красиво, и очень вкусно! Меню большое, глаза разбегаются, хочется всё попробовать. Брали: 🫜Еда Большой зеленый салат с авокадо Салат с раковыми шейками Жульен из раковых шеек Холодец Уха сборная Солянка мясная Котлета по-киевски с пюре Муксун с домашним лечо Шницель куриный с брусникой Жаркое из перепелки с вяленой тыквой Караси в сметане с пюре 🍰 Десерты Пирожки с яблоком и с брусникой Торт Киевский Еда была очень хороша, все позиции. 🍹Напитки Всевозможные квасы: мезень, рождественский, святский, северный. Больше всего понравились Мезень и Северный Чай с еловыми шишками — потрясающий!

Последний день в Москве, отмечаем семейное событие в ресторане "Доктор Живаго", на веранде, с видом на Кремль. Внутри заведения хостес внесли нас в лист ожидания, но прождав около часа, решили устроится на веранде. Дали покрывала, но они очень неудобные, постоянно сползают, но отступать было некуда, да Евгения - наша официантка уже подошла принять заказ. Сами официанты одеты в стильные фирменные красные пальто. Заказ подали почти сразу. Крем-суп вкуснейший, как и борщ, как и всё остальное. Палтус тает во рту так, что я не заметил как он исчез. К том уже порция оказалась небольшая, а в меню нет веса блюд, что не позволило увеличить заказ. Сельдь в бутербродах совсем не соленая и через чур вкусная. Драники немного суховаты, можно сказать, что на твердую четверочку. Каша пшенная с рачками вкусная, но немного пересоленная. Заказали на десерт черничный торт, но принесли его когда уже чай остыл, гости уже собрались спать. Впечатление такое, что кондитер получив заказ, носился по всей Москве в поисках ингредиентов, а потом приступил к изготовлению. Несмотря на задержку торт получился отменный с изюминкой-хрустящей посыпкой. Если бы не водочка - 9 тыс.рублей не очень то и дорого для такой великолепной еды. Цены соответствуют локации.

Вчера посчастливилось пообедать в гранд кафе "Доктор Живаго". Оочень атмосферное заведение. С первой минуты попадаешь в другой мир...играла любимая музыка моих родителей"В парке Чаир". Девочки на входе любезно попросили подождать, пока готовят столик. Для этого в холле есть удобный диван с подушками. Через несколько минут нас проводили в зал. Официантки порхают между столиков, как феи, обслуживание быстро и ненавязчивое. Пробовали котлеты из дичи и блинчики из дичи с брусникой. Необыкновенно вкусно. А цветаевский пирог просто тает во рту. Время пролетело незаметно. Негромкая музыка, великолепные блюда и атмосфера заведения - всё способствует тому, чтобы вернуться сюда еще не раз.

Если вдруг ночью, гуляя по центру столицы Вам захотелось подкрепиться, то смело заглядывайте в ресторан Живаго. Красивое заведение в бело-красных тонах с советскими элементами декора не напрягает взгляд, а акценты хочется неспешно разглядывать. Официанты вежливы и учтивы, не заставляли себя ждать, хотя это и понятно в столь поздний час посетителей было не много. Заказ приняли быстро, также быстро его вынесли. Из меню пробовала рыбный суп из трех видов рыб по рекомендации коллеги. Действительно вкусно, насыщенно, рыбки много. По остальным блюдам сказать не могу, но пельмени коллега не оценил на высший бал, сказал обычные. В целом пять звёзд заслуживает заведение, вернусь еще раз точно☺️

Давно собирался зайти в любимый Доктор Живаго. Не знаю, для меня рестораны Александра Раппопорта — это одни из лучших в Москве. Почему? Сложно объяснить. Наверное, это всегда идеальное соотношение цена–качество, безупречный сервис и бескомпромиссная еда. И в этот раз — не подвели. Провели прекрасный ужин. Холодец, как всегда, бесподобен. Пирожки — маленькие, на зубок — обязательно пробуйте все. Они реально все классные: тонкое тесто, офигенная начинка, свежайшие. Грибница — шикарная, с перловкой. Сало — просто сказка. Тюлечка — тоже топ, с хлебушком, с чесночными гренками. Сижу это пишу — и слюни снова текут 🙂 Отдельно в этот раз попробовал вареники с кроликом — это вообще бомба. Нежнейшее мясо, тают во рту, просто кайф. Ну и, конечно, отполировали фирменным пирогом с черникой. Это тут маст-хэв. Даже если вы уже наелись и кажется, что больше не лезет — всё равно берите. Обязательно. Обслуживание тоже всегда высший пилотаж, что здесь что в не менее любимых крабах кутабах

Зашли без брони в пятницу вечером, нас посадили в отдельную зону, как ВИП гостей. Есть очень вкусное постное меню с десертами. Не постное меню тоже аппетитное поэтому обязательно вернемся. Красивое место: интерьер, музыка, форма персонала-перенесли в атмосферу прошлого. Блюда-как произведения искусства: салат из кабачков, редиса и ботвы свеклы, пророщенная пшеница с белыми грибами, утиная грудка с брусничным соусом, очень вкусные и красивая подача.
