In 1987, Kobrin celebrated its centuries–old anniversary - 700 years since its foundation. During the celebration of the anniversary of the city, Komsomoltsev Square was renamed the 700th anniversary of Kobrin Square, and a monument depicting two historical coats of arms of Kobrin and seven boulders, each of which symbolizes a century, was erected in its center. Kobrin architect Anatoly Danilyuk designed the memorial sign. A capsule to the descendants is immured at the base of the monument. In July 2003, by the decision of the toponymic commission at the Kobrin district executive committee, the 700th anniversary square of Kobrin was renamed Zamkovaya.
