“Chess 2D: Play with Friends” brings classic chess to your computer or phone.
Find an online opponent, create a match and invite a friend with a link, or practice against a bot and choose its difficulty. Select a time control for matches against the bot. Play as White, Black, or choose a random color.
Follow the move list, clocks, and captured pieces, and send your opponent an emoji during the match. Plan your tactics, find strong moves, and learn to spot threats. Every match is a chance to try a new strategy and improve your chess skills.
How to play
Choose a game mode: play against a bot, a random online opponent, or a friend using an invite. Before the match, set the time control and choose your color, or let the game pick one for you. To play with a friend, create an invite and send them the link. Select one of your pieces by clicking or tapping it. Its available moves will be highlighted. Then select the square where you want to move it. Pieces follow standard chess rules: pawns move forward and capture diagonally, knights move in an L shape, and other pieces travel along their usual lines. To change your selection, click another one of your pieces or tap the selected square again. Your goal is to checkmate the opponent’s king. When a pawn reaches the farthest rank, choose a piece to promote it to. Keep an eye on the clocks and move list. During an online match, you can offer a draw or resign using the buttonsGame info
