Lilya: The pearl of quantum physics in the world of catering Reading the rave reviews about this place, I begin to suspect that either people have completely atrophied their sense of self-worth, or they dine here exclusively in a state of deep meditative trance. My recent visit (or rather, an attempt to make it happen) opened my eyes to an amazing phenomenon — the Lilya cafe exists outside of time and space, obeying only the laws of quantum mechanics and the gastronomic whims of the local mayor. When I decided to hold the event, I showed unheard-of audacity: I booked a VIP lounge. Naive! I thought that a reservation was a kind of agreement based on mutual respect. I was so wrong. A few days before the celebration, I went to check the menu and suddenly found myself in a surreal performance called "Theater of the Absurd for customers." The administration, smiling sweetly, stunned me with the news: "Come, of course, but we do not guarantee that you will get into the hall." Can you imagine? I booked this room for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, a weekday when, logically, even flies would die of boredom. But no! It turns out that at this modest time, the mayor of Novopolotsk (well, how can you not remember the classics!) He deigns to wish to eat. Apparently, the position obliges this respected man to have a truly royal shyness. So strong that seeing ordinary mortals within a hundred-meter radius can cause him to have an acute allergy attack, or uncontrollable bouts of flatulence, or, excuse me, bear sickness. And in order to avoid embarrassment for our beloved mayor, all of us must be ready to vacate the premises at any moment. After all, what could be more important than the comfort of one person who doesn't even bother to warn about his visit? But the highlight of this circus was the moment when, in response to my legitimate questions about what kind of "reservation" it was, the administration used a secret weapon — gaslighting. They started telling me lies about the VIP lounge... It doesn't exist. He's there, but he's not. He's like Schrodinger's cat — he seems to be booked, but if the mayor wants, he's not a VIP at all, but just a passageway. Bottom line: Lilya is an ideal place for those who want to experience the beauty of Soviet service in an environment of uncertainty. Do you want a thrill? Book a table here and play Russian roulette: either you eat, or the mayor will come and eat your event. Special thanks for the science: now I know that there are two kinds of people in Novopolotsk — representatives of the administration who dine in the VIP lounge, and everyone else whose plans must be resolved. I do not recommend it to anyone, unless, of course, you suffer from masochism and lack of self-esteem.
