You are alone on a wasteland with two jobs before sunset: gather resources and turn an empty field into a fortress.
By day you smash stumps and barrels for wood and metal, and the same wood and metal become your defences. Crates and iron barricades stall the horde, iron spikes stab whatever stands on them, wooden ones bog down whatever passes, mines tear, a bear trap holds one for ten seconds, a stake thrower hurls stakes in all four directions, and turrets shoot on their own and light the dark.
Then they come: walkers, runners, brutes, spitters, bats that fly over every wall — and from the fifth night on, the old one steps out of the dark. Every night is denser, tougher and meaner than the last, but you grow with it: a shotgun, a submachine gun, new structures, heavier bullets.
The night ends by the clock, not by the last corpse: live to dawn and the sun burns the rest while you pick an upgrade. A run ends only in death — an unfinished one waits on the title screen.
How to play
Keyboard and mouse.
W, A, S, D or the arrow keys — move. The mouse aims and LMB shoots: hold it down and the hero keeps firing as fast as the weapon reloads. Keys 1, 2 and 3 switch weapons once you have them.
E — the build menu. Click a card and the structure rides your cursor; place it by clicking tiles, one after another, without picking it up again. LMB on something you already built tears it down and refunds its full price. A red band runs along the edge of the field: nothing goes up there, that is where the horde walks in.
F — don't wait for sunset, call the night right now; the rest of the day is forfeit. Escape closes any window.
Nobody builds at night, and no zombies come by day. Resources come out of stumps and barrels only: shoot them apart and pick up what falls while it is still light. You have three hearts, and every one you lose is a third of the run.
