For three years the Nile has not risen, the granaries of Thebes are empty, and on the night after the Feast of Opet the Feather of Maat vanishes from the sanctuary - the relic of every oath. The seal on the opened shrine is the scribe Hapu's, and his daughter Merit sets out to prove it forged.
A story-driven match-3: 20 levels across four acts, from the procession of the sacred barque to a sandstorm on the road to Abydos and a trial before the boy king.
Every level is a scene: the characters speak before each round, and afterwards you learn how it turned out. Forty hand-drawn scenes fill the Chronicle, leafed like a book.
The board is made of things of the age: a papyrus scroll, a golden ankh, a lapis scarab, a lotus, a heart amulet, the Eye of Horus and the knot of Isis. In your way: reed thickets, funerary linen, stone columns, a temple cat, spilled incense, and rumour that recolours what stands beside it.
Progress saves to the cloud: start on a computer, continue on a phone.
How to play
Swap adjacent pieces to line up three or more. A move only counts if a line actually forms.
The counter at the top shows your moves; the goals sit on the left. There are five kinds:
• collect a number of pieces of one kind;
• clear the marked flagstones - match on them or beside them;
• fill the highlighted area;
• untie the rope knots;
• stand the trial by knocking the bar below down to zero.
A line of four creates the oar of the sun barque or the obelisk, sweeping a whole row or column. Five in a row gives you the Feather of Maat, which clears every piece of one kind. Crossing lines shatter a water jar that splashes everything around it.
Obstacles break from a line made on them or beside them. The number shows how many hits are left. A stone column cannot be removed; play around it.
A rope knot ties two squares together: hit either half to loosen it, or cover both at once to untie it twice as fast.
Cascades hit harder. Your stars depend on how many moves you saved.
